Guide: Stop a sender

You can stop LinkedIn emails in Settings & Privacy under Notifications, one category at a time.

LinkedIn lets you pick the emails you get by category in Settings & Privacy, and most emails carry an Unsubscribe link in the footer. The Gmail filter below catches what those leave, and every sender LinkedIn publishes ends in linkedin.com.

A filter on linkedin.com moves everything LinkedIn sends. Batmail's rules read what each email says.

LinkedIn's Notifications settings switch emails on and off one category at a time.

On a computer

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Click Settings & Privacy.
  3. Click Notifications in the left pane.
  4. Click a category to select items one by one.
  5. Switch the toggle next to each option you would like to get an email about.
  6. Select how often you want to receive those emails.

In the LinkedIn app

  1. Tap your profile photo, then Settings & Privacy, then Notifications.
  2. Tap a category to select items one by one.
  3. Switch the toggle next to each option you would like an email about, and select the frequency.

You can get fewer LinkedIn emails without turning any off.

The last step in the settings is the frequency, so a category you want to keep can be set to arrive less often. LinkedIn also has a LinkedIn recommended setting, and its help says that with it related messages may be grouped together so you get fewer emails. In some cases, if you have already interacted with a feature or notification on LinkedIn.com or in the app, LinkedIn does not send an email for it at all (Troubleshoot LinkedIn emails not received).

Newsletters and LinkedIn Learning send their own emails, and Learning has its own switch.

LinkedIn says you can subscribe to a newsletter to get push, in-app and email notifications whenever its author publishes a new article, and that when you follow someone who writes a newsletter, LinkedIn automatically sends a notification inviting you to subscribe (Newsletters on LinkedIn FAQ).

LinkedIn Learning emails

  1. On your LinkedIn Learning homepage, click Me in the upper right and choose Settings.
  2. On the Manage Your Account page, click Email.
  3. Click Turn off all next to Email Subscriptions, or switch off the toggles one by one.

LinkedIn sends from several subdomains of linkedin.com, so one filter matches all of them.

LinkedIn’s own phishing help says it has several email domains, set by its email service provider, and names three addresses as genuine. They all end in linkedin.com, so a search on the domain matches each of them.

Paste this into the Gmail search box

from:(linkedin.com)

Open this filter in the Gmail filter generator

Choose Skip the Inbox (Archive it) and a label rather than Delete it, so connection requests and messages from people stay one click away under the label. Save the filter with Show search options and Create filter (Google’s steps). The search from:(linkedin.com) only looks at the sender, so it takes every LinkedIn email, not only digests.

These are the questions people ask next.

How do I unsubscribe from LinkedIn emails?

Use the Unsubscribe link in the footer of the email, where it is offered, to stop that type of email. To manage them all, open Me, then Settings & Privacy, then Notifications, open a category and switch off the emails you do not want.

Can I get fewer LinkedIn emails without turning them all off?

Yes. LinkedIn lets you choose how often you get each email, and its LinkedIn recommended setting groups related messages together so you get fewer emails.

Do LinkedIn newsletters have their own emails?

Yes. LinkedIn says you can subscribe to a newsletter to get push, in-app and email notifications whenever the author publishes a new article, and LinkedIn can invite you to subscribe when you follow someone who writes one.

Are LinkedIn Learning emails controlled in the same place?

No. LinkedIn Learning has its own settings. On the LinkedIn Learning homepage open Me, then Settings, then Email, and choose Turn off all next to Email Subscriptions.

Which addresses does LinkedIn send from?

LinkedIn says it has several email domains, set by its email service provider, and names linkedin_support@cs.linkedin.com, linkedin@e.linkedin.com and linkedin@el.linkedin.com as genuine senders. All of them end in linkedin.com.

A filter takes all of a sender's mail or none of it. Batmail decides email by email.
