What it does
Batmail checks the new mail that arrives in the Gmail accounts you connect, matches each message against rules you write in plain English, and then archives, labels, stars, or forwards it. Every morning it delivers one roundup: what it handled overnight, and the few emails still waiting on you.
What it asks of your Google Account
You connect each mailbox through Google sign-in and grant one Gmail permission, gmail.modify. Google's consent screen words that same permission as “Read, compose, and send emails”, so expect to see it phrased that way: it is the one permission, not three. It is what lets Batmail read incoming mail, apply labels, archive, and star, and send only the replies or forwards your own rules ask for. Nothing outside the mailboxes you connect is ever touched.
What you stay in control of
You write the rules, so you decide what gets handled and what is left alone. Every action is logged with the reason behind it, most can be undone in one click, and disconnecting a mailbox revokes and deletes its token on the spot.
What it never does
Your mail is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models. Batmail sends nothing on its own initiative: a reply or a forward happens only when a rule you wrote says so.

Scoped access, yours to revoke
Batmail holds access only to the inboxes you connect, granted through Google's own sign-in. Disconnect one and its token is revoked and deleted on the spot.
Never training data
Your mail is processed to run your rules and labels, nothing more. It is not used to train AI models, never sold, and there are no ads.

Is Batmail another email app I have to switch to?
No. Batmail is a layer that sits on top of the Gmail you already use, between you and incoming mail. You keep your inbox, your apps, and your habits. Batmail works inside the accounts you connect, so what changes is what reaches you, not where you read email.
What access does Batmail get to my Gmail?
One Gmail permission per inbox you connect: gmail.modify. Google's consent screen shows it as "Read, compose, and send emails from your Gmail account", because that single permission covers all of it. Reading is how Batmail triages overnight mail, modifying is how it archives, stars, and labels, and sending happens only when a rule you wrote replies or forwards. Batmail asks for nothing beyond that one Gmail permission plus the sign-in details that tell your mailboxes apart. You can disconnect an inbox at any time, which revokes the access.
Can Batmail send email without me?
Only if a rule you wrote says so. Batmail never composes or sends anything on its own initiative. A reply or forward happens only when an email matches a rule you created with that action. Every send is logged and shows up in your morning roundup.
What does the AI see, and is my mail used for training?
To run your rules and labels, email content is processed through the Anthropic API. Your mail is not used to train AI models. Batmail also never sells your data and shows no ads.
What does Batmail store?
Processed snapshots of triaged messages (so your roundup and audit log work), your rules, labels, and guidelines, and the OAuth refresh token for each connected inbox. Refresh tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
Can I run several inboxes?
Yes. Batmail is built multi-inbox from day one. Connect each Gmail account you run, give rules a scope (one inbox or all), and get a single morning roundup covering everything.
Does it work with Outlook or other providers?
Gmail only today. Outlook and IMAP support are on the roadmap. If you run a Google Workspace domain, every address on it works now.
What actually happens overnight?
Batmail syncs each connected inbox, reads every new email, runs your rules in order, and applies AI labels with a written reason for each decision. Anything no rule handled is sorted for the roundup, and the digest is assembled before you wake up.
How does the roundup email work?
The roundup is emailed at the hour you choose, in your own timezone, and you can switch the email off in Settings whenever you like. Every roundup email has one-click unsubscribe, and the same roundup is always in the app whether the email is on or not.
How do I leave?
Disconnect an inbox and the token Batmail holds for it is revoked and deleted immediately, along with that mailbox's processed history. Delete your account and all of your data (snapshots, rules, labels, roundups) is removed.
How does pricing work?
Two plans. Scout is free and covers one inbox with the in-app roundup. Night Shift is $12 per inbox per month and covers every inbox you run, with the emailed roundup and all rule actions. Billing is live and charges immediately.
